GLAShow Fund Raising Events for 2019 Show

The HORTICULTURE SECTION of OUR SHOW needs you to enter whatever you grow in the garden greenhouse or on your windowsill, we would love to see it being exhibited in the 2018 horticulture section of the show.

Each year everyone is amazed at all the wonderful and fantastic entries which make such a great part of the Annual show but it needs YOU to enter to make this year’s show an even bigger success than last year.

You might even win one of our amazing trophies or one of the special prizes donated by our treasured supporters and for the exhibitor who gains most points in the horticultural Section there is the award of the Royal Horticultural Society Banksian Medal.

The PETER KNOWLES TROPHY for group environmental work has become an important part of the Horticulture Section.  It is open to any group involved with young people (2 to 16 years) who can put on an exhibition of their Growing and Environmental work. This could include a brownie or guides group, nursery or school.  The winner receives for keeps an inscribed trowel a trophy to display for 12 months and a prize of £20 for the group.

The Junior section is again FREE to enter this year and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the schools and preschool groups that enter the Horticulture section – what a fantastic job they are doing to involve their pupils with growing and nurturing plants , exhibiting makes such an enormous contribution to the horticulture section of the show.

The Floral Art Section is always colourful and I am always amazed at the flair of the exhibitors to interpret the ideas.  I hope we see even more exhibits this year – There are also some new and exciting categories this year and we would love you to have a go at creating a floral headdress using flowers from the garden. It could be made entirely from foliage or perhaps made entirely from fuchsia stems – please allow your imagination to run wild.

Family, Friends and Fun – A miniature garden for all ages is a great way for everyone to work together. I’m so looking forward to your creative ideas and entries this year. The winner will receive a special prize sponsored by Michelle from so plants, Little Town Farm Shop, Chipping Road, Thornley. Longridge, PR3 2TB Preston, Lancashire.

All junior classes are free to enter, if you are between the ages of 2 -16 years, this section is for you. We have some new and exciting class’s to enter this year. You could make a fruit and vegetable creature or create a strawberry garden grown in any type of decorated basket or container. Let your imaginations run riot or grow a plant from seed in your very own wellington boot. you also have the chance to create a garden in a jam jar. I am so looking forward to seeing your entries this year and I’m sure we will have amazing and fantastic displays and don’t forget the individual who has the most points in this section will be presented with a special prize and trophy. 

Closing date for entries : 6th July 2018 but please return your entry forms as soon as possible to allow for the best staging possible.
