Well, 2012, what a memorable summer, for all the wrong reasons. What was it? The wettest for a hundred years. In Ribchester I counted 238 days when it rained and the effects on gardening were clear. This year is going to be better.! As this is the Chinese Year of the Snake youngsters are invited to enter a garden snake while floral artists will hopefully be inspired by “ The Serpent “As the schedule shows we have a wide range of fruit and flowers and vegetable sections which are suited to the time of year. Each class has its own prizes and rosettes and the best exhibit overall in each section also wins vouchers kindly donated by our sponsors. The Royal Horticultural Society also award a Banksian medal for the exhibitor with the most points in the show; Last year it was won, not for the first time by Mr L. Buxton. I wonder if anyone can beat him this year. There is an entry fee of £5 for which the entrant can enter as many classes as he/she wishes and this also includes an entry ticket to the show. You can purchase A Family Ticket for £15 and put in as many entries as you wish
We also welcome children to enter in their own section. Children`s entries are free and there will be small certificates for all entrants as well as prizes for each class. The overall winner of the Junior section will also win a trophy and a special prize.
Closing date for entries – 5 July 2013 Download Entry Form
As Horticultural Section Secretary I would like to thank everyone in advance for their entries. Without your participation there would be no Horticultural section and the Show would be a little less colourful and interesting. I look forward to meeting you all on July 6th with your entries.
