Horticulture Section

There is no better time to get started in “growing your own”. As well as being good fun there is also a great sense of achievement when something actually does grow. It is just another small step to actually exhibit at the show what you have grown. Without our exhibitors the tent would be blank tables – not such an interesting thing to see, so please think about entering something. Even if you are not a grower you could still enter something in the floral art section. Read through the schedule and send your entries to me – Jean Hill at my address in the schedule.

In the schedule we have a wide range of fruit and flowers and vegetable sections which are suited to the time of year.  Each class has its own prizes and rosettes and the best exhibit overall each section also wins vouchers kindly donated by  local businesses. The Royal Horticultural Society also award a Banksian medal for the exhibitor with the most points in the show.

There is an entry fee of £5 for which the entrant can enter as many classes as he/she wishes and this also includes an entry ticket to the show.
You can purchase A Family Ticket for £10 and put in as many entries as they wish
We also welcome children to enter in their own section.  Children`s entries are free and there will be small certificates for all entrants as well as prizes for each class.  The overall winner of the Junior section will also win a special voucher to spend in the shops in Longridge and also win a voucher for their nominated group to spend in Longridge.

Closing date for entries - 6th July 2012  Download Show Forms

As Horticultural Section Secretary I would like to thank everyone in advance for their entries.  Without your participation there would be no Horticultural section and the Longridge Show would be a little less colourful and interesting.  I look forward to meeting you all on July 7th with your entries.

Peter Knowles, Secretary
